The IPEM MR Special Interest Group and BAMRR have created general implant safety policies and procedures for MRI (i.e. a procedure whereby patient MR scanning is authorised without explicitly identifying the make and model of the patient implant).
There is a national GISP on IUD’s now live on the IPEM website
‘A framework for developing generic implant safety procedures for scanning patients with medical implants and devices in MRI’ has been published in BJR Open
The next 4 GISPS to be developed would be: artificial heart valves, non-vascular stents, gastric bands and passive middle ear implants.
