BAMRR brought a dedicated MRI education session to UKIO 2026 in Liverpool, bringing together radiography, clinical science and radiology for a focused morning of contemporary MRI practice.
A dedicated BAMRR session at the UK’s largest imaging and oncology congress
UKIO 2026 took place in Liverpool from 8–10 June, bringing together professionals from diagnostic imaging, oncology and radiological sciences for three days of education, research, innovation and networking.
On the final morning of the congress, BAMRR delivered its dedicated session, “MRI in Contemporary Practice”, chaired by BAMRR Policy Board member Jill McKenna. The session brought together three speakers from radiography, clinical science and radiology, with practical content spanning Ménière’s disease, liver MRI, elastography, fat quantification and iron assessment.
The format reflected BAMRR’s continuing commitment to multidisciplinary MRI education: clinically relevant, technically informed and grounded in day-to-day practice.
MRI in Contemporary Practice
A one-hour multidisciplinary session combining clinical, technical and radiological perspectives, designed to give delegates practical insight they could take back into MRI services and patient care.

A successful morning in Liverpool
Following the congress, Jill McKenna reflected on UKIO 2026 and confirmed that she had chaired the British Association of MR Radiographers session that morning. She thanked Helen Estall, Mark Callaway and Alimul Chowdhury for their contributions, as well as the delegates who attended despite very heavy rain in Liverpool.
Her post also highlighted the wider value of UKIO: reconnecting with colleagues and friends, sharing ideas across the imaging community and keeping patient-centred care at the heart of conversations about technology and innovation.
