Resuscitation in the MRI Environment
Best practice guidance supporting safe emergency response and resuscitation within the magnetic resonance environment.
Supporting Safe Emergency Response in MRI
The Resuscitation Council released this best practice statement in July 2026. It was developed by a working group of the British Association of MR Radiographers (BAMRR) Policy Board, with input from professionals experienced in MRI safety, clinical practice, education and emergency response.
Raising MRI Safety Awareness
The statement aims to improve awareness of the specific safety considerations involved when responding to a medical emergency within the MRI environment.
Supporting Safer Emergency Response
The guidance supports incident prevention and safer decision-making when emergency teams are required to respond within or around an MRI department.
Staff Outside Radiology
The statement is particularly relevant to staff groups working outside Radiology who may be called upon to deal with medical emergencies involving patients undergoing MRI.
Developed with MRI Expertise
The working group brought together professional experience in MRI safety, clinical practice, education and emergency response to support practical best practice.
